Here are some notable services that have relations with WiiLink in a service or community form, these services cater to either WiiConnect24 (for the Wii channels and Message Board) or Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection (for the online multiplayer games).
WiiConnect24
WiiLink
WiiLink (formerly WiiLink24) is the current largest service reviving the WiiConnect24 services, and the subject of this wiki. Currently managed by Sketch, it supports all international channels, most region exclusive channels and enhances a select few. It was originally started as a WiiConnect24 service, before pivoting to region exclusive channels for a few years, coming back with WiiConnect24 channels with the Nintendo Channel in early 2023. It absorbed with what was previously Striim Network and RiiConnect24.
RiiConnect24
RiiConnect24 was the previous largest service reviving WiiConnect24. The service ran from 2015 to 2023, mostly run by Larsenv. It was singularly focused on reviving all international services of the WiiConnect24 services, and was widely recommended as the service to install on your Wii after modding it. After issues of overlap and rivalry between the users of the service and WiiLink, it merged with WiiLink in December 29, 2023. The service now goes under the name RiiConnect24: A WiiLink Service with slightly modified branding. Although the name was never officially retired, the service is now considered dormant as branding of RiiConnect24 has been replaced by WiiLink.
Striim Network
Striim Network was a service supporting the Kirby TV Channel after it's end of service. It merged with WiiLink on February 15th, 2022.
Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection
Wiimmfi
Wiimmfi is the largest Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection revival service of the community. It revives most Wii games, and even supports a large catalogue of DS games. Though the service is the oldest out of any revival service with its Mario Kart Wii support beginning 10 days before it officially shut down, it has gained some criticism over its lack of open source support. Wiimmfi users make use of WiiLink with the Message Board service, allowing interactions with those that have both. This is seen in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Wiimmfi states it is for spectator mode and submissions.[1]
WiiLink WFC
WiiLink WFC is an open-source Nintendo WFC service alternative, which allowed players to play games online. Despite their WiiLink branding, WFC is autonomous from the main service. The lead developer is Palapeli, who coded the server and the disc patcher. Compared to the community's fan favorite, its code base is licensed under GNU AGPL. The service is reliant on user testing from the community and offers a handful of games support.
